Tough Bosses
(PRESENT TENSE, BUT PAST PERFECT)
Having a tough boss is like learning a grammar lesson - the present tense, but the past perfect. When we were with them, serving their stretch targets made us stress. They use the maximum amount of our energy for a continuous period until we tear or break. I want it now and I want it my way. Strict and uncompromising. It feels like having a boss from hell.
Yes, the present is tense, but if we look at it positively, believe me, we will thank them when we are apart. They are the ones who built our resilience, who taught us to never say die before we try and gave the true meaning that actual strength lies in our heart. We always underestimate what we are capable of and we need these kind of bosses to keep reminding us that we can and capable. You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have. 'Saya Boleh'.
Resilience is not built overnight and neither can it be built without us experiencing challenges and tests in life. Challenges come in different forms. One of it is in the form of human - a tough boss. Tough boss will produce tough staff. They taught us how to be able to endure hardship, adversity and pain. If everything comes easy, then what is there to build our resilience? Think about it.
Looking back, the past is actually perfect. We are actually the certified product of our tough bosses. Tested and ready to face more challenges that will come in the future. As much as we do not want to admit, we actually owe it to them.
That's my two cents. You might or might not agree. But for me, having a tough boss is like learning a grammar lesson - the present tense, but the past perfect. Thank you tough boss.
